Weekly Reflection #1

This week for technology I watched a movie called Most Likely to Succeed (2015). The movie followed students at Hi-Tech High a public STEM focused school. While they did do a play I think it would be very beneficial for there to be more arts education such as music or visual arts. Personally I don’t think this is a school I would succeed at because of the intense focus on STEM. I do really appreciate that it is a public school and for the most part I like lottery systems for education. I think teachers can take tools from this film to use in their own classrooms. We also went over FIPPA guidelines today for privacy of students and ourselves. Thankfully my social media is private and I have not posted anything that is not appropriate. I am someone who is paranoid about my digital footprint and I did not let Uviceducation follow me my first two years at Uvic.

We also went over privacy and copyright. I think this is very important to be mindful of crediting people for their work. One thing I learned about that I think is very cool is creative commons, where if something is tagged with that you are welcome to take the media as long as you credit the creator. One resource I plan to use is Unsplash which is a resource where you can find images for free.
