Supplies needed
– rolls of any sort (toilet paper, paper towel, wrapping paper, from ribbon etc
– tempura paint
-card stock or some kind of sturdy paper, or (cardboard ideally thin like from cereal boxes)
-black pens or markers.
-tape, glue sticks or elmers glue
Adaptations
-If you want it to take less time and be less messy you can get students to wrap the rolls in paper instead of painting
-making bouquets and using the roll as a vase and paper to make flowers instead of animals
-Paint pens to decorate
-As well as any other fun reasonable suggestions students may have
This week I made a toilet paper roll fox I used to make crafts out of toilet paper rolls when I was a kid so this felt very nostalgic to me, However I had limited supplies so I was working with what I had I used a carboard container that used to have ribbon and I didn’t have any card stock so I cut up a thank you card I had to make the ears, I think I probably will have limited supplies as a teacher. This craft was really fun. I kind of just made it up as I went a long but this is a craft where I would want to let students be able to be really creative and not show them exactly what to do, I will say tempura paint takes forever to dry so it would be best to do the painting one day and assembly and decoration the following class. I

This is the fox I made I think it looks cute, angry and silly! Overall I think this is a really fun craft! For K-1 I would probably allow a bit more time and I would put on fun music related to animals!
