AI is an interesting resource, That we can’t really escape as teachers. It is everywhere around us. I used to use AI as a resource fairly often for things like emails or editing but since learning about the environmental impacts I have tried to avoid it whenever possible and only used it when required for assignments. I also have a lot of ethical concerns about AI specifically deepfakes and generative AI and how consent connects to them. The only AI I have really used is Chat GPT open AI. It has been interesting to see how professors views of AI have changed to be more in favour of it just over the last three years. I think it is impossible to avoid completely so as a teacher I want to give my students a full picture of AI so I would explain to them in depth the pros and cons of AI. I find AI pretty scary and I am worried how it will be used in the future especially by people who’s intentions are to have control and power.
